Microsoft Teams 2021 : History, What are the Features, How to use, Pros and Cons - All that you must know

Hey readers,

Welcome back here is brief description regard to Microsoft teams

Microsoft Teams

As you all know we had come across many things in 2020, which made all of us face and fight the unforeseen and unprecedented events due to the Covid-19. Gladly and sadly, the main consequences of it involves companies letting their employees work from home and online classes for students (hard to gain knowledge).

The happy part is that a lot feel relieved as they can avoid congested roads while traveling to Offices, Schools, and Colleges and have the YUMMY MOM COOKED FOOD instead of canteen food while taking out some time to spend with our beloved ones. But, staying away from the offices and schools isn't an as easy task as it might look like because of the difficulties involved in Teacher-Student interactions and sharing the work among colleagues. A lot of uncertainties are faced by students as well as teachers.

So many other applications had been published and become popular as well, but they all failed because of fewer features like (Example - there is a limit for joining the meeting from min 1 to 100 max ) I am not criticizing other applications because they are popular in their way.

So Microsoft came into a figure that, has a lot of Cool features than all other video call applications. Around Eighty percent of people had stuck to the Microsoft teams app (from my point of view), which is available in both the google play store for Android and Microsoft Store for PC. Anyways now you might have an idea about the Relevance of this application. The happy part for Microsoft teams is recently Microsoft Teams had hit Seventy-five Million Active Users last April.

Now on, the article goes interesting Read till last. let us get started to know more about Microsoft Teams Application.

Features of Microsoft Teams

Features of Microsoft Teams

  •  Activity - Well, everyone is familiar with this section, this is used where all the recorded documents, assignments, and meeting history is stored.

-Two sections come under - Activity

A. Feed

B. My activity

A. Feed - Feed is where All documents are stored, like If you had logged in with a college ID. It displays everything which is hosted by college or self-hosted(you).

B. My Activity - whereas, In this section only self-hosted is stored, like If you had hosted a meeting with your friends then this is very helpful. This is visible only to you, not displayed to others. unless they are invited by you to the meeting so let us go in-depth of this section, if you missed any of your class or meeting(necessary one) If the host has recorded the whole meeting, then you can go to the Activity and watch it. if there are any missed calls, voice mail, replies, unread messages, or anyone mentions, Apps, trending ones, Reactions. these are all stored in the Activity section.

OMG!!, Cool Right?? Yeah, Above mentioned features are available in only one section. this application is quite interesting as I said to you before, continue reading

How to use -

when you open this (Microsoft teams) application, you will get seven sections displayed on the left side of the screen, so now Go to Activity, there again three sections are displayed Posts, Files, Notes.

Note - for better understanding, I will explain with connection to college or school.

A. Posts -  If there is an exam or assessment test, the question paper is displayed in posts ( PDF format ).

B. Files - once you are done with the assessment test or exam. you will have to upload that file (answer paper in pdf only) here (files) or in posts.

The major difference is If you upload the PDF file in the Files, it is displayed to all. but, if you upload to Posts then this is only visible to two people, Sender and Receiver.

 C. Notes - In the Notes part only notes are displayed like class notes.

  • Chat - So in this section, you will know, who had joined the meeting and you can chat here, send any files, Emojis as well All I can say is it's like WhatsApp (only this section).

If you want to join the meeting, select which class you want to join (it is displayed left side) later on the right side Join icon will be displayed on the Right up corner click on it, that's it. you joined the meeting.

In the chat section, there are fewer features compared to the previous section (Activity), when you click on the chat you will get All documents like unread messages, meetings, muted. But before entering the meeting, if you need to check who had joined the meeting then you can view it which is placed on the right side of Join Icon also you can add members, you can check the meeting details next to the view members icon.

If you face any issues or cannot find the actual meeting you reload the tab, so this is present besides of view members.

  •  Teams - This plays a huge role in this application because if you need to create a team or join the team (meeting) then this section is mandatory.

For Example - If you are in schooling or college, the total number of subjects will be displayed here, this could be easier to join the class, submit the assignments. Anything that you do in offline mode is created as it is, in a virtual model.

you can go in-depth, when does class started and ended at what time. Also if Lectures share any notes related to the subject then those all are displayed in the class notebook. You can check out there whether they have given any assignments. These features are similar to all the icons, which are displayed in the Teams section.

If you are still reading this, Congratulations!!. Today, Going to be an Informative day for you all. By the end of the article, you will feel like you have learned something very useful.

  • Calls - In this section, you can call anyone through the call section (contact list), but the thing is the opposite person (Receiver) must be installed this application on his Android Mobile or PC.

If you are unable to search or if it consumes a huge amount of time to search a person you can add a frequently called user to your speed dial section also there is one more feature available, you can check the history of recent calls or long-time calls. For this, you need to sync your contact list to this application.

If you need to create a new meeting, Go to New group add the title for what this meeting is then add members (Application limit) as your wish.

  • Files - In the files section, you can upload the files like ppt, pdf, many more.

Downloaded files will be saved in the Downloads section

  • Calendar - This section helps to keep the Reminder when the meeting is scheduled. Go to the calendar and click on the date you will redirect to the meeting.
  • Group call - You can make a group video call with your Relatives, Friends Etc.
